Learning the alphabet letter names and the correct alphabet sounds is the most important literacy skill that your child will learn before reading instruction begins. That's because the English language is an alphabetic language. Letters make sounds, and sounds make words! Will your child be ready for formal reading instruction?
The Alphabet Subscription Box teaches more than just the alphabet letter names and sounds. Other skills taught include:
1) Vital pre-reading skills, called Phonological and Phonemic Awareness, including rhyming, counting syllables in words, and listening for individual sounds in words
2) Fine Motor Development, including cutting skills, gluing, tracing, handwriting skills, proper letter formation, and how to hold a pencil with an appropriate tripod grasp
3) Initial Sound Identification, for example, recognizing that the word 'cat' starts with the /k/ sound
4) Following Directions and Listening Skills, while working with the contents of the Boxes
With 20 lessons in each Box, your child will have multiple opportunities to practice and polish his or her skills, in preparation for School Success!
The Alphabet Subscription Box is curated by Reading Specialist & Dyslexia Interventionist Jenelle Erickson Boyd, M.Ed.
