Approximately 75-90% of the English Language can be classified into the 6 syllable types. These 6 syllable types were created when Noah Webster decided to regulate the English language in the early 1800s, when working on his Webster's Dictionary, for the purpose of pronunciation and consistent division of words into syllables.

When students learn the 6 syllable types of the English language, they are then able to independently decode unknown words. This skill is a gift that they can use throughout their lifetime!
