Example: If the chosen base word is 'fresh", students can choose to make the following derivational words:
freshen
freshest
freshly
refresh
refreshing
refreshment
refreshingly
refreshes
There is one box for the base word, and three boxes for derivational words. Students can use the Lil' Reading Scientists TM Pocket Chart Cards to build the base word, and can then add prefixes and suffixes to the base word, as appropriate. Here is a link to the Pocket Chart Cards:
